Water ahoi
For the worriers amongst you - it's true that parts of Melbourne started to float away yesterday in the heaviest storm for a century (31 hours of continuous rain, welcome to the Australian summer... the Queenslanders from the tropics would have only pity for this kind of 'storm') and some residential areas are still without electricity, but the northern suburbs have been let off lightly and we only had the smallest puddle in the bedroom, due to an overflow in the chimney. So, all good here! Well, apart from the government warning not to swim in Port Phillip Bay this weekend, because of all the contaminated rubble that came down the Yarra River. Not fair, in the light of me looking forward to exactly that as my final activity. Might have to stay an extra weekend after all...

Fuer die Beunruhigten unter Euch - es ist wahr, dass Teile Melbourne's gestern anfingen wegzuschwimmen, im heftigsten Sturm des Jahrhunderts (31 Stunden pausenloser Regen, willkommen zum australischen Sommer... die Queenslaender in den Tropen wuerden diesen 'Sturm' aber muede belaecheln) und dass einige Wohngebiete noch immer ohne Strom sind, aber die noerdlichen Stadtteile wurden vom groebsten verschont. Wir hatten bloss ne winzige Pfuetze im Schlafzimmer, die sich bildete nachdem der Schornstein voll war. Also alles im Lot hier! Naja, bis auf die Regierungswarnung, nicht in der Port Phillip Bucht zu schwimmen, wegen des ganzen Muells, der den Yarra Fluss runtergekommen ist. Gemein, war doch genau dies als mein letztes Unterfangen geplant. Muss ich wohl doch noch ne Woche laenger bleiben...
