Note to self: Go to Koolbarrie (I think I already forgot the spelling...) Met someone at work today who's from Western Australia, sounds like a nice spot.
'Part from that: 2 weeks TODAY! My flight tickets were in the post yesterday! Getting really excited. There's still loads to do, namely first aid supply and Taiwan visa. Er, and my room. Or rather, the things in it. Found out that the real London crew is planning a 'surprise' visit weekend after next, that sounds like the proper send off.
It is sooo friggin' freezing here at the moment, that only the thought of more tropical climates keeps me from starting to hibernate. It's even too cold to go swimming. Which is silly, really. As ex-flatmate used to say: In a couple of weeks we'll be complaining about the heat. ;) Well, she hasn't complained yet. Rung yesterday from Melbourne and is obviously loving it.
Congratulations: The first postcard goes to Ms Silberstreif! She sent me a mail about 'seven league boots'... :) Did I mention that there are comments boxes underneath each post??

Glueckwunsch: Die erste Postkarte geht an Frau Silberstreif!

Beware, Petrus is watching! Yesterday spring erupted in Northern England, which it likes to do beginning of Feb. Did you know that airports have a magnetic attraction? It's true! After we left (the now ex-) flatmate and sonny at the back of the queue to passport control last Saturday at half 7 and drank an overpriced coffee, I couldn't detach myself. However, on the other side of said control the situation is slightly different...
Anyway, the house has been turned upside down since. First it was frighteningly empty, now it's cluttered with boxes, whereas Action Man and footballs were abandoned for pink... things. Pink hairbubbles, tights, scooters, socks, towels, strewn across the floor. A whole new pink world! Which would like to suck me in and colour me pink. How did I voice it to my original travel compagnion - I think I've crossed the 'point of no return'. In.. erm... really big boots. (Whoever helps me remember, what 'Siebenmeilenstiefel' is in English, will receive the first postcard from Thailand! Babelfish thinks it's filter mile boots, bless them.)
And then, yesterday, I decided to go for shopping therapy: Apart from a genious pair of crocodile-infested-river tested sandals I now own a waterfilter, which drove the well-travelled staff of the annointed retail specialist to dance and sing and play. Which made it kind of hard for me to pry the item of their hands when I wanted to leave.

In exactly 3 weeks I will be in Bangkok, the first travel destination.
Hard to imagine at the moment, in the light of english weather, the outstanding planning efforts and the current chaos in the home.
Flatmate is flying to Melbourne tomorrow (via Singapore) and the air is full of busy, if not panicky get-up-and-go! A while ago the electrician popped in, the council is cutting down trees out the front door and everything is a little bizar.
