Hochzeitstags- und visa-Reise

81. Tag - Chiang Kong

Day 81 - Chiang Kong
Pete and me are on a little trip to Laos for our first weddi
ng anniversary (and for renewing our Thai visa, as the border to Myawaddi is still shut). The "celebrations" already started back home with taking all the students and colleagues out for a "BBQ" in Mae Sot the night before we left - we went to a buffet restaurant, where you grill all sorts of deliciously marinaded meats on hot coals at your table - with complementary ice cream included! It was a very special evening with a musical ending. Friday morning we set off early to Chiang Mai and our anniversary day yesterday was perfected with a bottle of chilenian redwine and a view across the Mekong to Laos.
It sounds to exotic to be true! :o) It always hits me in these moments, how much I am living my dream. Life is wonderful.

This is a photo of the Mekong from this morning:

We will be on it on a boat for the next 2 days - it's not a yacht on the Flensburg Fjord, but also good, hey? ;) From Luang Prabang we will head further south the capital and be back in Mae Sot on Friday.
