Hallo aus Amsterdam!Fuer die schwer arbeitenden Teilzeitbackpacker sind sogar Wochenendtrips einen Eintrag wert! Im Gegensatz zu meiner ersten Amsterdamreise ist das Wetter sehr annehmbar, die Reise weniger uebelkeitserregend (habe im KLM-Flieger Nachbarn wahrscheinlich durch schnarchen und schlaftrunkene Bemerkungen zu jeweiligen Traeumen wach gehalten), die Unterkunft einsame Klasse und die Begleitung gutaussehender! :)
Leider laesst mein hollaendisch nach wie vor zu wuenschen uebrig, aber immerhin weiss ich jetzt, wie man Egelantiersgracht ausspricht! Und dass ich die von Toby gelernten Schimpfwoerter lieber fuer mich behalten sollte... Die Schlange vorm Anne Frank Huis ist fast so lang wie vorm Reichsstag jedes Mal wenn ich in Berlin bin, also wird das wieder aufs naechste Mal verschoben.
Es ist so nett, direkt unterm Wohnzimmerfenster Boote zu haben. Fast ein Ersatz zu wohnen am Meer. Eine Nacht in Amsterdam mit zwei Australiern, einer Deutschen und einem Ami; alle irgendwie fast zuhause und doch so fremd - mehr oder weniger auf der Durchreise mit groesseren oder kleineren Visa-Problemen...

For the hard working part-time backpacker even weekend trips are worth an entry! Unlike on my first Amsterdam trip the weather the weather is very agreeable, the journey less sickening (I guess I kept my neighbours in the KLM cityhopper awake with snoring and mumbled comments to my dreams), the accommodation excellent and the company more good-looking. :)
Unfortunately my dutch still leaves much to be desired, but at least I know how to pronounce Egelantiergracht and that I should keep the swearwords learnt of Toby to myself... The queue in front of the Anne Frank Huis is nearly as long as the one in front of the Reichstag every time I'm in Berlin, so that's again postponed til next time.
It's nice to have boats just underneath your living room window. Nearly a house-by-the-seaside substitute. A night in Amsterdam with two Aussies, one German and one American - all somehow nearly home but still so foreign, all transiting with more or less long-term plans and bigger or smaller visa issues...(
