The second week
My second week as a brandnew australian employee is ending. What have I done so far? I've moved home - brandnew, very nice flat with spacious balcony and 10 mins walk to beach. I watched 'The Castle', 90s Aussie movie about a family who fight for their home next to the runway of Melbourne Airport before the High Courts and say very Aussie things all the time. I've been for a swim in the mornings - I'd say the water is about 12 degrees and very refreshing! I've done a bit of translating work for my agency. And I'm reading about the Australian legal system and 'The Law of the Land' by Henry Reynolds. All in all probably a good induction into the new aussie way of working - taking it easy and if it's a nice day - go to the beach! :)
Naa, I'm not kidding myself that much. It'll start to get more hectic soon, no doubt.

Die zweite Woche
Meine zweite Woche als brandneue australische Angestellte geht dem Ende zu. Was habe ich bisher so gemacht? Ich bin umgezogen - brandneue, sehr nette Wohnung mit geraeumigem Balkon und 10 Minuten zu Fuss zum Strand. Ich hab 'The Castle' geguckt, 90er Jahre Aussie-film ueber eine Familie, die fuer ihr Haus neben der Startbahn des Melbourner Flughafens bis zum Verfassungsgericht streitet und die ganze Zeit typisch australische Sachen sagt. Ich habe ein paar morgendliche Badegaenge unternommen - ich wuerde sagen, das Wasser hat so 12 Grad und ist sehr erfrischend! Ich hab ein wenig Uebersetzungsarbeit in meiner Agentur gemacht. Und ich lese Buecher ueber das australische Rechtssystem und 'The Law of the Land' von Henry Reynolds.
Alles in allem ist es soweit wahrscheinlich eine gute Einstimmung auf Arbeiten in Australien - nimm's leicht, und wenn das Wetter gut ist - geh an den Strand! :)
Nee, das glaub ich ja selbst nicht. Ohne Zweifel wird es bald etwas hektischer werden.
